The Public Information Officer is a position for the Office of the High Commissioner for Human Rights (OHCHR) in Panama City, Panama.

The incumbent reports to the Deputy Regional Representative of the Regional Office for Central America.

Some of their responsibilities are:

*Ensures implementation of information programs.

*·Monitors and analyzes current events, public opinion and press, identifies issues and trends, and advises management on appropriate action/responses.

*Undertakes activities to promote media coverage.

*·Ensure the correct application of OHCHR’s brand manual.

Requisitos

Requirements:

*Advanced university degree (Master’s degree) in communications, journalism, international relations or related field. Bachelor´s degree in communications, journalism, international relations or related fields in combination with seven years of qualifying work experience may be accepted in lieu of the advanced university degree.

*A minimum of five years of progressively responsible experience in public information, journalism, international relations or related areas is required in combination with a master’s degree. A minimum of seven years of progressively responsible experience in public information, journalism, international relations or related areas is required in combination with a bachelor´s degree.

*Language:      English and French are the working languages of the United Nations Secretariat. For the position advertised, fluency in Spanish and English (both oral and written) is required.

*Experience working on human rights-related issues in the Latin America region is desirable.

*Experience in conducting media-related training is desirable.

*Experience in editing media products is desirable. Experience working with the United Nations common system is desirable.
